Evaluations

October 2020: Sireni has made another huge jump in her game since we last saw her, which shows she has been working during quarantine. She’s fluid and a real match up problem at either the three or the four positions.  She’s comfortable with physical down hill attacks but has fantastic mid-range footwork when she gets defenders on her heels.  She shot the ball at range all weekend as well.  She’s an active defender who makes some plays at the point of attack but could still improve her position defensive understanding.  All in all her growth was one of the biggest positive surprises of the weekend.

August 2019:
The light switch has been flipped on for Elana.  She’s found her confidence and her game is taking off because of it.  Her ball skill and fundamentals are becoming much more fluid.  At 6-0, her release point is high and her shooting mechanics are smooth.  Off the bounce she is a physical driver who isn’t deterred by contact.  She plays through hand checks and blocks and gets paint touches pretty consistently.  She’s comfortable getting to her floater.  We’re looking for her to build her finishing repertoire out and be able to take one more dribble and get all the way to the rim when the opportunity is there.  She finishes with both hands and has clearly worked on finishing off of either foot as well.  All in all the growth in the last year has been considerable.

August 2018: Sireni, a 5’11 forward in the 2021 class. Defensively, she is dialed in, crashes boards hard and does a good job of being a strong presence when she fights to take away angles and utilizes her strength to take positioning. She had several strong defensive series where she defended actions and anticipated the offense well. Offensively, she posts up hard, works for positioning and had good looks at the rim when she holds her angles on the block. Going forward, releasing pressure by holding her positioning longer will amount to cleaner looks at the rim. Her scoring efficiency has an opportunity to go up overnight if she can focus on developing the right timing on the block. Adding a nice midrange pull-up would also give her offensive game more dynamic off an elbow set. Overall, Sireni is active, has good strength on both ends of the floor and is opportunistic whether its running out infront in transition or tracking down a loose ball. It will be great to compare notes on her growth this time next year.
