Evaluations

September 2020: Dirks continues to show her smarts on the floor.  She has the understanding on the floor and leadership to be a lead guard, though she’s a wing-forward.  She passed the ball with both hands well, her shooting is improving and she’s figuring out how to defend on the perimeter.  Her energy and focus has been fantastic in the last year leading to all this growth in her game.

February 2020: Dirks is a skilled player who brings versatility for her team. She has a terrific feel for the game where she will not force the issue, but instead make the easy play consistently. She showed a very good passing ability from the high post. So much so campers who played alongside her at camp seemed to love playing with her. Dirks versatility extends into being able to score in the paint with consistency. Although there are players that are taller, she possesses the body control and touch to score in tough spots. Dirks can face the basket and play on the perimeter as well. Proving that she has the lateral quickness to defend quick wings will be an area to focus upon.

September 2019:  Dirks is a versatile, aggressive prospect. She immediately grabbed our attention on day one when she was a vocal encourager in defensive drills. This is a special type of characteristic for a player who is still in middle school. When she hit the court in 5 on 5 competition, she was immediately one of the most competitive players on the floor. She is a high energy player who plays without a position at this moment. She can post up and score with crafty up and under moves. She also has the ball handling and range to play on the perimeter. It is to be determined what specialty Dirks might have at the next level, but that does not matter at this moment. Her high energy, competitiveness leads her to be a productive prospect. If there is one area that she can improve upon coming out of this evaluation is her follow through. Her release is solid, but she should work on making sure her release point is higher more consistently.
