After a season in which the Iowa State Cyclones finished 2nd in the Big 12 during the regular season and placed 2nd in the conference tournament, Coach Bill Fennelly was rewarded with a multi-year extension through the 2025 season. Fennelly, the school’s all-time winningest coach led his team to the 2nd highest win total in program history (26) in 2018-2019.
At Iowa State, Coach Fennelly has won over 500 games and has 18 appearances in the NCAA tournament. He’s ranked 14th nationally in wins by an active coach and is one of 13 finalists for the Marine Corp/WBCA National Coach of the Year award.
The Cyclones lose 3 seniors, including program changing guard, Bridget Carleton. Carleton is irreplaceable: she finished as the schools 2nd leading scorer, is top 5 in 4 other categories and is the only Cyclone to be named Big 12 Player of the Year. However, with their retuning depth and the addition of 3 strong freshman, expect the Cyclones and Coach Fennelly to keep surging towards national contention.
